Drown (2025)

Drown is a self portrait installation inspired by my original music composition Drown for Vibraphone, Percussion, Tape, and Video Art, visually interpreting the emotional weight of drowning as a metaphor for mental health struggles. Using intense red tones to evoke suffocation, frustration, and pressure, the work portrays a visceral and immersive aesthetic. The large-scale prints (20x30 inches) and irregular, scattered layout mirror a fragmented mental state, enhancing the sense of chaos and overwhelm. Through a mix of sharp and distorted imagery, the series captures shifting emotions between panic and paralysis. The installation embraces rule-breaking in both color and structure to better convey its themes, ultimately highlighting how presentation and visual disruption can powerfully reflect inner turmoil.
