Eyes in Landscapes (2024)

Eyes in Landscapes is a surreal photo series that combines close-up images of human eyes with empty landscapes to explore themes of perception, observation, and connection. By cutting and transplanting eyes, sometimes scattered, sometimes neatly arranged, into natural settings, the work disrupts how we traditionally view both human features and environments. The swapped and disembodied eyes lend an eerie, dreamlike quality, prompting interpretations around surveillance, identity, and emotional distance. Influenced in part by my recent eye surgery, the project takes an intuitive, experimental approach, allowing meaning to emerge through process. The result is a visually arresting meditation on how vision shapes experience and how presence can be felt even in absence.
